Deep Rock Galactic: 2018 Legacy Edition Now Available on Beta Branch
For those who missed out on the Year 05 Anniversary Event, the 2018 Legacy Edition of Deep Rock Galactic is now available on the beta branch, drg_legacy, on Steam. The current version of the game is still included on the drg_legacy branch and will be kept up to date with the main branch, allowing players to switch between the two versions without having to re-download the game.
Save games are shared between the main and the drg_legacy branch, so players do not need to start over or change their saves. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to access the drg_legacy branch and launch the 2018 Legacy Edition:
- Go to your Steam Library
- Right-click Deep Rock Galactic
- Select ‘Properties’
- Select the ‘Beta’ tab
- In the drop-down menu, select drg_legacy - DRG + 2018 Legacy Edition
- Click ‘Play’
- On the pop-up with ‘Launch Options’, select ‘Play 2018 Legacy Edition’
- Click ‘Play’ and enjoy the 2018 Legacy Edition
Note: If the ‘Play 2018 Legacy Edition’ option does not show up on the list, players may need to restart Steam.
For players who have set the ‘Always use this option’ and do not get the launch option selection pop-up, follow these steps:
- Right-click ‘Deep Rock Galactic’ in your Steam Library
- Select ‘Properties’
- In ‘General’, click the ‘Launch Options’ drop-down
- Either directly select ‘Play 2018 Legacy Edition’ or select ‘Ask when starting game’
- If ‘Ask when starting game’ is selected, players will get a UI where they can select ‘Play Deep Rock Galactic’ or ‘2018 Legacy Edition’
- If ‘Play 2018 Legacy Edition’ is selected in the ‘Properties’ menu, players will need to repeat these steps but set it to ‘Play Deep Rock Galactic’ to play the current version of the game
- Follow steps 6-8 from the first part of the guide
