War Thunder Update: Improvements and Fixes
As a part of our continuing work on improvements and fixes in the game, we have released several updates for War Thunder. The full list of improvements can be found in the website's special section. Additionally, we are currently testing the next major update, La Royale, until June 1st, 7:00 GMT. More information about participating in the testing can be found on our forums.
Naval Hit Camera
We have released an improvement to the hit camera in naval battles. Now, when you damage an enemy, the hit camera will display a dynamic water line, showing the depth, trim, and heel of the opposing ship. This will provide you with valuable information for your next volley. This improvement was intended for the La Royale major update, but we decided to release it early to make naval battles more comfortable for players.
Incognito Mode
We have added an option to hide players' nicknames, which will be useful for streamers and vloggers. This option was added due to the game's cross-platform multiplayer, which allows players with Gaijin.Net accounts to participate in battles with Steam, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live users. Sometimes, players' nicknames contain words that streaming services might have an issue with. By choosing to replace other players' nicknames with numerical UserIDs or automatically generated names, you can avoid this issue. This option can be found in the "Main Parameters" menu under "Privacy and Confidentiality". Please note that this only renames the players for you, and our moderators and GMs will still be able to find violators of the rules.
Hold Your Fire
We have disabled automatic fire for the main calibre guns of blue water ships. This decision was made for two reasons. First, the automatic behaviour of the main calibre sometimes got in the way of players who switched temporarily to another weaponry group. Second, some unscrupulous players used the AI to take over the main calibre permanently, effectively putting the ship on autopilot while they were idling on the secondary calibre. This was unsportsmanlike and unfair to players who actively participated in naval battles.
Other improvements include fixing the animation of depth bomb replenishment, fixing errors that prevented players from choosing countermeasures on aircraft, fixing several button conflicts on gamepads, and displaying battle tasks in the correct order. We appreciate all the bug reports submitted using our special service.

Ground Vehicles
- Fixed incorrect animation of the scout UAV reloading in RB mode.
- Fixed incorrect displaying of the visual model of fired shells in replays.
- Fixed absence of animation of the digging icon when raising/lowering the blade in online battles.
Naval
- Disabled automatic firing of the AI-controlled main calibre turrets on blue water ships.
- Fixed a bug in replays that caused shots from blue water ships to be displayed with a delay.
- Fixed missing depth bomb replenishment animation.
- Fixed a bug that caused the actual amount of ammunition of the main calibre turret on HMS Enterprise to be less than the player selected before battle.
- Increased the ammunition of the 152 mm single-shot cannons on HMS Enterprise to 240 shots.
- Increased gun vertical guidance speed for the 36 cm/45 Type 41 cannon to 8 degrees per second.
Interface
- Added display of the required level for the Battle Pass in the description of the challenges.
- Fixed a bug where the availability of the choice of Flares/Chaff wasn't updated when editing selected suspended weaponry when adding/removing a Flares/Chaff block in the modification window.
- Fixed a bug where the progress of the selected achievement relative to the previously selected mark wasn't displayed in a battle.
- Fixed a bug where battle tasks for RB were displayed in battle in the "Personal Tasks" window in SB mode.
- Changed the display of battle tasks to show medium tasks only after the reward for an easy task has been taken.
Other Changes
- Fixed a bug where there were no armoured vehicles in the hangar on the special transportation trailer.
Please note that this changelog only reflects the major changes within the game as part of this update. Specific fixes may be implemented without the client being updated, as War Thunder is constantly improving.
